MARATHONS
Whenever I was asked about training for my first marathon, I used to say this was going to be my first and last marathon. Although, after crossing that finish line I was addicted. The adrenaline rush, the sense of completing a major accomplishment and most of all seeing my friends and family along the way made me fall in love with the entire experience. I was able to cut off over an hour of my time through an amazing training plan. The focus cannot just be weekly mileage, it also needs to include speed work and cross training.
Twin Cities Marathon (3x): 3:55, 3:19, 3:03
Los Angeles Marathon: 3:18
California International Marathon: 2:54 (2022 Boston Qualifier)
Boston Marathon: 3:04
Chicago Marathon: 2:56 (2025 Boston Qualifier)
Philly Marathon: 2:55 (2025 Boston Qualifier)
Triathlons & RAGNAR RELAYs
To expand my training, I started competing in triathlons and Ragnar Relays. A triathlon truly pushes the boundaries on an athlete’s abilities. Not only is it fully taxing on your entire body, but a quick transition is also crucial to be competitive.
A Ragnar Relay is a long-distance team relay race that can take up to 36 hours to complete. They test your endurance, mental capacity and ability to compete on minimal sleep. Not only is it an exhausting race, but it is also one of my favorite memories every year. These are great races to include throughout the year to change up your marathon training in the off season.
